TLIC FAMILY. DAY 192. JULY 11: ALL THINGS ARE YOURS.

THINK TOGETHER

What would you do first if you found a million dollars?

READ TOGETHER

The whole universe belongs to God the Father, and to Jesus the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. And God shares everything with us. He shared his Son, Jesus with us, and he shares the whole world with us too! And that is why we can share everything with each other and not be jealous. Listen to how Paul says it here to the Corinthians (who were very jealous):

1 Corinthians 3:21-23. 21 So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas (Peter) or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23 and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

Here’s what Paul is saying: Everything is God’s. Jesus is God’s. You are Jesus’. Therefore, everything is yours. Imagine being so rich that your money never runs out. You can buy anything you want or need whenever you want or need to. If you were that rich would it be easier or harder to share your money? Would it be easier or harder to help others? The answer should be that it would be easier. Why? Because you never have to worry about running out of money.

Our life with God is the same thing. We have everything we could ever need or want in Jesus, and if that is true, then why would we ever pick sides, or favorites, or not share, or be greedy, or jealous of others?

When you can see everything as a gift from God without turning it into your god, then everything can be “no big deal.” Your team might win or it might lose, but it’s “no big deal” because you still have Jesus and all his gifts. Your favorite toy might get broken, but it’s “no big deal” because you still have Jesus and all his gifts. Your friends might even be mean to you, but it’s “no big deal” because you still have Jesus and all his gifts. Remember, when all things are yours you don’t have to try to hold on to everything, because God is holding on to you.

Because of Jesus God has shared everything with us.

With Jesus we can live a life full of love and sharing.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Spend some time together as a family enjoying something that God has given to us – nature, music, a good story, each other, play. Give thanks to God for all things.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, you are the greatest sharer ever. Help me to share what you have given to me with others, especially your grace and love. Amen.
