TLIC FAMILY. DAY 246. SEPTEMBER 3: I AM SURE.

THINK TOGETHER

What’s something you are sure of?

READ TOGETHER

As you grow up you’ll learn that there are not many things in this life that we can be sure of. There aren’t many things that we can be positive will happen. In science class you will learn about laws of nature that you can be sure of, like the law of gravity, or the laws of motion. But the Bible says that there is something else we can be sure of, and that is the love of God. Read this beautiful section of Romans 8 and listen to how the Apostle Paul describes God’s love for us.

Romans 8:35-39. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,39nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What are you sure of? Is it God’s love? Is it that you will never, ever, ever be without his love for you? You might be thinking, “Well there must be something that would make God stop loving me.” But there’s not. Look again at Paul’s two lists in Romans 8:35-39. First, there’s the list of earthly things – tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and sword. So even your worst day can’t take God’s love away from you. Then there’s Paul’s second list – death, life, angels, rulers, things present, things to come, powers, height, depth. These are the things beyond the physical. Even these can’t take God’s love away from you.

There’s nothing you can do, nowhere you can go, and nothing in all creation, that can change the fact that God loves you because he loves you. He loves you for who you are, not for what you do. He can never love you more and he can never love you less. Why? Because he loves you the same way he loves Jesus.

Because of Jesus God will never stop loving us.

With Jesus we can be sure that God is loving us today and every day.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Illustrate the law of gravity by dropping things. The law of gravity is constant. In the same way God’s law of love for us is constant and unchanging too.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, thank you for connecting your life to mine so that I can always be sure of God’s love for me. Amen.
