TLIC FAMILY. DAY 342. DECEMBER 8: OUR FELLOWSHIP.

THINK TOGETHER

Who is your best friend? What do you like to do together?

READ TOGETHER

The Apostle John wrote several books of the New Testament. He wrote the Gospel of John, and he wrote the book of Revelation. He also wrote three little letters including 1 John. Can you find 1 John in your Bible? Here’s how 1 John begins:

1 John 1:1-4. 1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— 3that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

John begins this letter to Christians by reminding them that they have fellowship with the Father and the Son (Jesus). But what is fellowship? What does that word mean? It means partnership and friendship. Have you ever had to work on a school project with your friend? Or maybe you built something together with your mom or dad. That’s the kind of relationship we have with Jesus and the Father. We are partners. We are friends. We are family. We work together.

Do you have a relationship with Jesus? Do you talk to him? Listen to him through the Bible? Do you trust him? Do you remember that he is with you wherever you go? That’s fellowship. That’s real life.

Because of Jesus we have fellowship with God.

With Jesus we can live all of our lives together with God.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Is there a family project that you can work on together today or this week? That’s fellowship! Partnering and sharing a goal together. Talk about how Jesus wants us to share in his project of spreading his love to everyone through the message of the cross.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, you have made a relationship with God possible? Thank you for inviting me to be your friend and partner. Amen.
