TLIC Family. PROVERBS. JUNE 21: EYES.

THINK TOGETHER.

Can you hide from God?

READ TOGETHER

Proverbs 15:3. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

Do you know the story of Jonah the prophet? God asked Jonah to do something very difficult, something Jonah didn’t want to do. So Jonah thought that he could run away from God. He thought he could go somewhere where God could no longer see him. But is that even possible? Can we hide from God? Or does God see everything?

Jonah found out the hard way when he got swallowed by a whale.

God sees everything. His eyes are in every place, all the time, at the same time. Does this scare you or does it comfort you? Well, our answer to this might depend on if we are good or evil. Solomon says that God keeps watch on both the good and the evil on the earth.

So are you good or are you evil? Your answer depends on if you are connected to Jesus by faith or not. If you are connected to Jesus, then you are good. Why? Because he is good. But if you are not connected to Jesus then you are evil. You see, God doesn’t decide who’s good and who’s evil based on what we do or what we’ve done. He decides based on our faith. Who are you trusting in? If it is Jesus alone, then you have been declared to be good by God, just like Jesus is good.

So are you good?

If so, then the fact that God sees everything you do should bring you great joy and comfort. It should make you happy to know that God is always with you, watching out for you, understanding you, and loving you (even when you try to hide like Jonah).

Because of Jesus we are good and not evil.

With Jesus we can never hide from God.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Play hide and seek together. Who hid the best? Can we hide from God? Should we even want to hide from God?

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, you see all I do and that is good. Thank you for watching over me and for guiding me through life. Help me trust you more and more. Amen.
