TLIC Family. PROVERBS. SEPTEMBER 25: HONEY.

THINK TOGETHER.

Do you like honey?

READ TOGETHER

Proverbs 24:13-14. 13My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste. 14Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

In Solomon’s day there was no sugar. There’s was no candy. No whipped cream or chocolate. They only had honey for making things sweet. Solomon is giving his children an object lesson. He tells them to eat some honey. How does it taste? It tastes good and sweet.

That’s how wisdom is supposed to taste to your soul.

How does God’s wisdom taste to you? Is it sweet? Do you enjoy reading the Bible and the Proverbs? Do you love learning about Jesus and the good news of salvation? Do you like going to church to hear and talk about God?

We should. Why? Because the wisdom of God gives us a future and a hope.

When we are wise and trust in Jesus we literally gain a future and a hope. Without Jesus we would die and have no hope of being with God. But with Jesus we have hope. The hope of Heaven. The truth that we will live with God forever and ever, without troubles, and without anything sad.

Until that day, let’s keep eating the honey of God’s word. Let’s keep learning about Jesus and his love for us. Let’s keep asking questions about the Bible and learning more and more so that our faith in Christ will grow stronger and stronger. And let’s enjoy it! Like honey. Like whipped cream. There’s nothing better than knowing God. And there’s no better hope than Jesus.

Because of Jesus we have a future and a hope.

With Jesus we can enjoy learning about God and Heaven from the Bible.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Eat some honey (or another sweet treat) together. Talk about how easy it is to like sweets. Is the Bible sweet to you? Why or why not?

 PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, your words to me in the Bible are sweet. Help me to enjoy learning about you and knowing you more and more. Amen.
