THINK TOGETHER.
Are you kind? Who taught you how to be kind?
READ TOGETHER
Proverbs 31:26. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
This last section of Proverbs is a description of an amazing wife and mother. But remember, the description here isn’t just for moms or even just for women. Anyone can be the things described in Proverbs 31 if they are wise.
Do you remember what we said yesterday about Christians? Christians are called the bride or wife of Jesus. Every Christian, boy or girl, can be like the wise woman of Proverbs 31. Every Christian can be the “excellent wife” of Jesus.
Today we see that the wise wife is kind, and she teaches kindness. Hopefully you have someone in your life who is teaching you kindness. Showing you how to share and put others first. Maybe it’s your mom and dad that are trying to get you to be kind. Maybe your grandparents are showing you kindness. Or a teacher, coach, or pastor. When people are kind to you it changes you. Everyone needs kindness in their life, don’t they?
The word for kindness used in the verse is a pretty important word too. It is the same word that the Bible uses for God’s special kind of love that he has for his people. The Hebrew word is hesed. Can you say that? Heh-sed.
Because God loves us and is so kind, he sent his son, Jesus, to die for us on the cross. The Apostle Paul says it this way: But God demonstrated his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
That’s the greatest kindness ever.
Parents, are you teaching your children that kindness? The kindness of the gospel?
Kids, are your trusting in the kindness of the cross to save you from your sin?
Because of Jesus we know God has been and always will be kind to us.
With Jesus we can be kind to others.
