THINK TOGETHER.

Do you remember the story of the Three Wise Men?

READ TOGETHER

Proverbs 25:2. It is…the glory of kings is to search things out.

Merry Christmas!

Do you remember the Christmas story of the wise men? Sometimes they are called the three kings. Technically, they weren’t kings, they were magi. Magi??

A magi was a person who spent their life studying and learning and getting smarter and smarter. A magi wanted to answer all of life’s questions. Solve all the puzzles of the universe. Often they would look to the stars in the sky for answers (kind of like scientists do today). But the wise men in the Christmas story weren’t just wise because they were smart. They were wise because they were searching for Jesus. God put a star in the sky to guide them, and the wise men “followed” that star all the way to Bethlehem where they found the baby Jesus and worshiped him.

Matthew 2:10-11. 10When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. 11And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him.

Can we be like the three kings? Can we be wise and search for Jesus too?

Yes, we can. And we don’t have to use the stars in the sky. We can use the Bible. The Bible is where we search for and find everything we need to know about Jesus.

Do you know how to read the Bible on your own? Is that something you think you could learn how to do this new year?

Because of Jesus we can be wise and seek God.

With Jesus can learn about him in the Bible.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Read the Christmas story together from Luke 2 or Matthew 2. Talk about how we can use the Bible (not the stars) to “search” for Jesus.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, thank you for searching for us first, so that we could search for you, and find you in your word. Amen.
