THINK TOGETHER.
Are you saved? What do you think it means to be saved?

Titus 3:4-7. 4When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. 6He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
These words, written by the Apostle Paul to a young pastor named Titus, are one of the best summaries of our salvation in all of the Bible. Notice that all three persons of the Trinity are in these verses: God (the Father) our Savior. Jesus Christ our Savior. And the Holy Spirit.
Everything about your salvation begins with God the Father – He saved us. Why did God save us? Because he is kind, loving, and merciful. How did God the Father save us? Through Jesus and through the Holy Spirit.
First Paul tells Titus that God is our Savior, then he says that Jesus is our Savior. This is because God and Jesus are ONE! They are BOTH our Savior. God saves us by sending Jesus to us. Jesus saves us by obeying the Father and dying on the cross for us. Then comes the Holy Spirit.
Paul tells Titus that God generously poured out the Holy Spirit on us. You might remember Day 24 – The Day the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus’ disciples. God poured out the Holy Spirit on the disciples on the Day of Pentecost. Peter preached, the Disciples did miracles, people got saved, and the church was born.
But that was not the last time the Holy Spirit was poured into new Christians. Titus wasn’t in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, and neither was Paul. But God poured the Holy Spirit into them through Jesus. Every Christian who has faith in Jesus has the Holy Spirit.
What does the Holy Spirit do for us?
He washes away our sins – God will never judge a Christian for their sins, that judgment already happened on the cross.
He gives us new birth and new life – we are a whole new person who loves God and wants to obey him.
He makes us right in God’s sight – God sees us the same way he sees Jesus: perfect!
He gives us confidence that we will inherit eternal life – the Holy Spirit in us is God’s promise that one day we will be in Heaven with him forever, sharing everything that Jesus has been given by the Father.
If you are a Christian, then this is your salvation. Praise God!
Because of the Holy Spirit we are saved!
With the Holy Spirit we can be sure we are saved.
