TLIC Family. Day 360. December 26: I am the Alpha and Omega.

THINK TOGETHER

What is the most important thing in life?

READ TOGETHER

We come now to the last book of the Bible. Revelation. Can you find Revelation in a Bible? Revelation was written by the Apostle John when he had a vision of Heaven and things to come in the future.

Revelation is a book that is all about worshiping Jesus. Three times in this book Jesus calls himself the “Alpha and the Omega.” Here they are:

Revelation 1:8. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 21:6. And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.

Revelation 22:13. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters in the Greek alphabet. To say “I am the Alpha and the Omega” is like saying “I am the A to Z.” I am the beginning and the end. Now back in John’s day Alpha and Omega was a title given to the emperor (king) of Rome. So when Jesus calls himself the Alpha and the Omega he is saying that he himself is the true king. He alone deserves to be worshiped.

But why? Why worship Jesus?

Because he is the Alpha. He is the beginning of everything. The creator. He made you. He made me. He made everything. And not only did he make everything, but also everything is made to reflect him and his love. Especially us. We are the created ones that were made to be a picture of Jesus and his sacrificial grace and kindness for others.

Will you let Jesus be your Alpha this year? Your source of everything good. Your first and best thought each day?

And, we worship Jesus because he is our Omega. Our end. Everything is made not only from him, but also FOR him. God will make sure that his Son, who made everything, will get everything back. That, once again, everything will be connected to him.

Will you let Jesus be your Omega this year? Will loving and trusting him no matter what be your goal? Will you want to know him more than you want anything else? Will you simply spend some time praising Jesus for all he has done for you?

I pray you will.

Because of Jesus our life is connected to the beginning and end of all things.

With Jesus we can live with the simple purpose of worshiping God.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Spend some time today as a family simply worshiping Jesus. Be reminded that everything begins and ends with him.

Here’s a Christmas worship playlist to sing and dance along to.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus,

You are my first and my last. You are my everything. I worship you.

Amen.
