What is faith? Do you have faith?

There’s only one thing you need to go to Heaven – Faith in Jesus.

Faith is super important. Faith is trust, and without trust you can’t be saved. The book of Hebrews talks about faith like this:

Hebrews 11:1. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

And like this:

Hebrews 11:6. And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

According to the book of Hebrews faith is assurance, conviction, believing God exists, and seeking him.

Now this can sound very general, like “just believe that God exists and you’ll be OK.” But we must not forget what this book has already taught us about Jesus.

Jesus is our sacrifice for sins.

Jesus is our great High Priest.

Jesus died to make us clean on the inside, even perfect.

Jesus gives us a clear conscience.

Jesus allows us to draw near to God in hope.

Jesus will return to recue us, not punish us.

So faith is faith in Jesus!

And faith in Jesus is something that lets us live each and every day in courage and love. Faith lets us live right now as if we are already with Jesus, because Jesus is already with us. And faith lets us live right now as if we are already in the presence of God, because God lives in us. Faith puts inside of you all of Jesus’ own faith and trust in God the Father.

So do you have faith in Jesus? Do you believe that he died to take away your sins and make you clean inside? Do you believe that he will come back to rescue you and take you to Heaven to be with God forever? Can you trust him enough today to obey him? Yes, you can.

Because of Jesus we can always trust God.

With Jesus we can live each day trusting God with courage and love.

Watch the 2018 Grinch movie together. The Grinch finds hope which changes his faith. Talk about how faith has to be faith IN SOMETHING. And that something is Jesus.

I trust you. Help me to trust you more and more each day.
