Who do you listen to the most?
READ TOGETHER
Proverbs 1:33. but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.
Who do you listen to? Your parents? Your grandparents? Your teachers? Your pastors? I hope so? These people are wise and they love you and want what is best for you.
Do you listen to celebrities? Singers? Rappers? Athletes? Actors?
What about your friends? Do you listen to them?
How about yourself? Do you listen to that little voice in your own head?
We all listen to lots of different people don’t we? In Proverbs 1:33 Solomon is pretending like Wisdom is talking to us, and she (in Proverbs wisdom is always a woman) is telling us to listen to her – whoever listens to me will dwell secure.
Some of the people we listen to are wise. Why? Because they love and honor God. But some of the people we listen to are not wise at all. Why not? Because they do not know God, or fear God, or care about what God cares about. Maybe the wisest thing you can ever do is to make sure you are listening to people who love God.
Of course, the wisest person you could ever listen to is Jesus. He IS God’s wisdom that speaks to us. When we listen to Jesus we can have eternal life. Listen:
John 5:24. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.
What is Jesus’ word? What does Jesus say? He says believe in me. Follow me. Trust me. I am the way, the truth, and the life. He says I love you and died for you. Are you listening? I hope so. Because to listen to Jesus is to dwell secure forever.
Because of Jesus we have heard how to dwell secure with God.
With Jesus we can hear and believe in what he has done for us on the cross.

Learn to listen to Jesus by memorizing his word. Try memorizing Matthew 11:28.
PRAY TOGETHER
Jesus, you always listened to the Father, help me to always listen to you. Amen
