TLIC FAMILY: PROVERBS. DAY 27. JANUARY 27: YOUR HEART.

THINK TOGETHER.

Who lives in your house? Who controls what happens in your house?

READ TOGETHER

Proverbs 2:10. for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

Yesterday we talked about paths. What path are you on? Are you on a wise path? Paths always have a destination. Paths lead somewhere. God’s goal, his destination, for you is that wisdom comes into your heart. Does that phrase sound strange to you?

When Solomon talks about our heart he does not mean our blood pumping muscle in our chest. In ancient times your heart was the very center of who you were. It was all that you wanted to be and all that you were becoming rolled into one. God wants his wisdom to be at your center. He wants you to love it. He wants it to control you and define who you are. Eventually wisdom won’t be something you have sometimes or do sometimes, it will be the very center of all you are and all you do. Wisdom will live inside you.

Now listen to what the Apostle Paul says in the New Testament:

Ephesians 1:17. that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.

Ephesians 3:18. that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, [may be] rooted and grounded in love.

You see, the only way to really have wisdom living in your heart is to have Jesus and the Holy Spirit living in your heart. When you have God in your heart, he controls your life. He changes what you want so that you want his love the most. And that is the wisest you can ever be.

Because of Jesus God can live in our hearts.

With Jesus we can love his wisdom because he loves us.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Look at the bedrooms in your house. Could someone tell who lives in each bedroom just by looking? Could someone tell that Jesus lives in you?

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, you live in my heart. Help me to be rooted and grounded in your love so that your love makes me wise. Amen.
