THINK TOGETHER
Do you like putting together puzzles? Why or why not?
READ TOGETHER
The Bible is like a puzzle. If you only have one piece of a puzzle you will never see the big picture. But as you get more pieces the big picture starts to take shape. The Bible is the same way. Over hundreds and hundreds of years, God gave his people, Israel, pieces of his big puzzle. And the book of Isaiah gives us two very important pieces of God’s puzzle. The puzzle of how he will save us from our sins.
Yesterday we saw the first of those pieces – God will provide a “lamb” to take way our sins. Today let’s look at a second very big puzzle piece from Isaiah 59:
Isaiah 59:15-16. 15The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice. 16He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation.
Isaiah describes God looking around for someone to save us, but he can’t find anyone that can do it. He says there was no man. You see a person like us can’t save us because they would be sinful just like us. We need a savior that never sinned. We need a perfect sacrifice.
Have you ever heard an adult say, “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself?” Well that’s what God said. Since no human can save all the other humans God said that he would do it himself. His OWN ARM would bring salvation. That meant God would become a person, a human, a man– Jesus.
Jesus is God’s lamb that was sacrificed for us, and Jesus is God’s mighty and powerful arm that brought our salvation. How? Because Jesus is both God and man. He is God who became a person. Because Jesus is a person he can be our substitute. And because Jesus is God he is powerful enough to carry our sins and defeat them on the cross. Now, in Jesus, all the puzzle pieces come together and we can see the beautiful way that God saves us.
Because of Jesus God has the person he needs to save us.
With Jesus we can be saved by God from our sins.
DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

PRAY TOGETHER
Jesus, you are my lamb and you are God’s mighty arm that saves us from sin and death. Thank you for rescuing me. Amen.
