TLIC FAMILY. PROVERBS. APRIL 10: RULERS.

THINK TOGETHER.

Who rules over you?

READ TOGETHER

Proverbs 8:15-16. 15By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just; 16by me princes rule, and nobles, all who govern justly.

Did you answer the “Think Together” question above? There are many people wo rule over you aren’t there? Can you name some of them? (President? Governor? Mayor? Principle? Teacher? Parents?) Do they rule justly?

King Solomon wanted his son to grow up to rule justly and fairly. A wise ruler always does what is right and gives equal treatment to people. A good ruler doesn’t take from people, but rather gives to people to help them succeed. Solomon’s son, Rehoboam, was not a just and fair ruler. He was a fool. He hurt his own people on purpose because of his pride. Eventually God had to punish the king and take away part of his kingdom.

Some day you will likely be a ruler or a leader. Maybe class president. OR a manager at a store. Or a teacher or pastor. You might be a parent someday too. IF you are ever in charge of other people please be wise and govern justly. How? Most importantly by being a servant leader like Jesus was. Jesus always gave help to all in need. He was always fair and he doesn’t have favorites. He is a kind and generous ruler over us and we can be kind and generous too.

Because of Jesus we can trust that God will always rule over us with fairness.

With Jesus we can always be just and fair.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Look up some of the people who rule over you (local, state, national rulers). Take a minute to pray that these men and women will rule justly in the fear of the Lord.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus, help the people who rule over me to be just and fair. And help me to be just and fair too, like you are, when I rule over others. Amen.
