THINK TOGETHER
Have you ever been unprepared for something?
READ TOGETHER
There are many things that we do in life that require just the right equipment. Like playing football. Or taking a test in school. Or climbing a mountain. Or making a diorama. What else is something that you need to have just the right equipment for?
The good news about God is that he has equipped you with everything you need to do all the good things that he wants us to do. Here’s how the book of Hebrews says it to us:
Hebrews 13:20-21. 20 Now may the God of peace equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
We don’t need anything more than what God has already given us. We have all the love, all the goodness, all the grace, all the kindness, all the forgiveness we need from Jesus living inside of us that we need to also be all those same things.
So when God tells us to love each other, we’re OK because we have been equipped with his love. And when God tells us to be kind to each other, we’re OK because Jesus has put kindness into our hearts. And when God tells us to forgive others when they’re mean to us, it’s OK because we have all the forgiveness inside of us that we need to forgive other people.
A lot of times Christians think that they aren’t able to talk to others about Jesus, or to do the things that God has asked us to do. But the truth is that everyone who trusts in Jesus has Jesus living in their heart. And that changes us. It makes it so that we can do what God asks us to do. We can be like Jesus because we are connected to Jesus. Forever.
So never think that you can’t do it. If God is asking you to be kind to someone, you can do it! If he is asking you to trust him more, you can do it! If he’s asking you to obey your mom and dad, you can do it! Anything God wants us to do we can do. Why? Because we are equipped by God through Jesus to do it. No matter what.
Because of Jesus we have everything we need from God.
With Jesus we can do anything God asks us to do.
DO SOMETHING TOGETHER
Spend some time in the kitchen together making a simple (or complex) meal. Talk about what equipment you need to make the meal together. Jesus has given us all the equipment we need in our hearts to do everything he asks.
PRAY TOGETHER
Jesus,
You have given me everything I need to love and trust you, and love and care for others. Help me to know that together we can do it!
