Have you ever made something for someone? What was it? Why did you make it?
The whole Bible begins with God making this world and everything in it.
Genesis 1:1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Read those first four words again. In the beginning, God….
Some people think that the world began out of nothing. There was nothing…and then BANG! there was everything. But the Bible tells us that everything came from God.
The Bible is a book all about God and his love for us. Why did God make the world? Because he loves to love and give and share. God didn’t make the world so that he would have people to love him. He already had love even before he made anything. How? Because God is three persons in one: The Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. And these three have always loved each other, and shared with each other, and been nice to each other – forever!
When God created everything he did it in order to share his love with all the people and things he created. That’s what love is – giving. Do you like to give things to others? Do you like to share?
In the New Testament (do you know what that is?) the Bible says that everything came from Jesus (who IS God, remember?).
John 1:3. All things were made through Jesus, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Jesus made everything because he loves the Father and he loves the Spirit. And they love him too. Jesus made everything so that the Father and the Spirit would be loved. And that’s why he made you, so that you can be loved and so that God can be loved by you.
Jesus loves you very much. How do I know? Because he made you, and because he came to the earth he made in order to die for your sins so that you can love just like he does.
Because of Jesus you can know that you are loved by God forever.
With Jesus you can choose to love and share and do things for others too.
DO SOMETHING TOGETHER
As a family can you make something for someone to show them that you love them? Maybe a card or a meal. Talk about how God made everything because he loves us.
Thank you for loving me and making me. Help me to know that you love me no matter what. Help me to share your love with others who need to know that they are loved too.
