Have you ever seen a movie trailer? Did it make you want to watch the movie?

READ TOGETHER

The Bible says in Ephesians 1 that one day everything will be connected to Jesus. Everything will be united to him. Here’s how Paul explains it to us, but listen carefully because these verses can be a bit confusing:

Ephesians 1:3-10. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places… ⁹ making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ¹⁰ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Paul is saying is that in the end everything will be brought underneath Jesus and his reign as king and everything will be made perfect and full and awesome.

And since we are already connected to Jesus, and already under his reign as our king, that means that we are the preview for the world of what is to come. We are God’s movie trailer.

When you watch a movie trailer you get to see some of the movie but not all of it. And you get to see just how awesome the movie is going to be. The trailer makes people want to go to the movie.

And that’s what we are as Christians. We are a preview of going to Heaven. We are a preview of what the world will be some day – people who love each other, and are kind, and share, and obey God, and take care of each other and the earth.

What does this mean for us right now? It means that first of all we don’t have to let everything in this life control us because we know that one day Jesus is going to fix everything and make it all perfect. And it also means that we can live a life that shows people what the future with Jesus will look like. We can be a trailer. We can be a preview. We can give the world a glimpse of Heaven by how we live today.

Because of Jesus we are already united to God. 

With Jesus we can give others a preview of the future when everything is united in Jesus.

Watch this movie trailer together. Talk about how our lives are like a movie trailer for others to watch and then want to be with Jesus in Heaven too.

I can’t wait until you fix everything and make it all perfect. Help me to be a preview of what’s to come today and every day.
