TLIC FAMILY. DAY 362. DECEMBER 28: THE ACCUSER.

THINK TOGETHER

Is Satan real?

READ TOGETHER

The Bible teaches us that Satan is real. Very real. Satan is against God and all that God stands for. Satan hates God, love, and grace, and kindness, and us.

And the Bible also teaches us that Satan has been defeated, will be defeated, and can be defeated each and every day. Listen to how John explains our victory over Satan here in Revelation 12:

Revelation 12:10-11. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

Satan and his demon minions aren’t trying to win because he knows that he never will – “he knows his time is short.” Instead, Satan’s goal is to keep every Christian so discouraged that they end up doing nothing for Jesus while alive on earth. How? By accusing us. “He accuses them day and night before our God.” Satan spends all day every day trying to convince God that we are not worth loving, and he spends all day every day trying to convince us that God could never love us because we are just so bad.

So how do we defeat Satan in this battle?

Faith.

Faith IN the blood of the Lamb.

We trust that Jesus has paid for all our sins by his precious blood being shed for us on the cross. We trust that we have conquer Satan by the blood of Jesus. We trust that now, no matter what we do, there’s nothing that Satan can accuse us of in front of God that is more powerful than the blood of Jesus.

Faith BY the word of our testimony.

Our testimony? The simple statement that we trust in Christ alone. Not the story of how amazing and good we are, but the confession that Jesus is amazing and good. And when Satan accuses us of being bad (and yes we are often bad) we simply remind him that we are trusting in how good Jesus is and not in ourselves.

And that’s how you shut the Devil up. That’s how you conquer our enemy, by reminding him that Jesus already conquered him on the cross.

Because of Jesus Satan will be destroyed forever one day.

With Jesus we never have to listen to Satan’s accusations.

DO SOMETHING TOGETHER

Here’s a video of the song Overcome with lyrics that you can sing along to.

PRAY TOGETHER

Jesus,

Your death on the cross defeated Satan. Now his accusations will never change God’s mind about me.

Amen.
