THINK TOGETHER.

Have you ever made something that made you feel happy?

READ TOGETHER

Proverbs 8:30-31. ³⁰then I [Wisdom] was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, ³¹rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.

The Bible is a really old book that tells how the world was created by God. But did you know that there are lots of other really old stories about how he world was created? There were many ancient nations and they all had a creation story that they told, just like the Israelites (the people in the Bible) did.

But the Bible’s creation story is very different from every other one. How? Well, in all the other creation stories there is more than one god. Usually these different gods are fighting. The sky god might be fighting the sea god and as a result the sky and ocean are made. Or the land god might need slaves to work or fight for him so people are created. In the end these stories tell of everything being made from hate and jealousy. From war and conflict.

In the Bible the creation story is very different. Proverbs says that God, the only god, made the world from wisdom and delight. God was happy when he made the earth and he was very happy when he made us. God and Wisdom delighted in the children of man. We aren’t the result of war and hate we are the result of God’s love and joy! His delight.

If there was rejoicing and celebration in Heaven when we were created, we can only imagine the joy and celebration that happens when we are re-created by God when we receive Jesus as our savior. Jesus said, “I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” God is so happy that you are alive. And God is ecstatic when you turn from your sin and trust in his son, Jesus. Have you done that? If so, the celebration in Heaven is still going.

Because of Jesus God can delight in us!

With Jesus we can delight in him and his wisdom.

Why not throw a salvation celebration party? How can you celebrate God like he celebrates you?

Jesus, you have always delighted in me. Help me to delight in you. Amen.
