TLIC FAMILY. DAY 61. MARCH 2: MY REDEEMER LIVES.

THINK TOGETHER

What is one thing you believe about God?

READ TOGETHER

When hard things happen to us it begins to show what we really believe. When we are sad, or hurt, or when we lose something important to us, it can show whether or not we believe in God. What we believe about God is the most important thing in the world. It is the most important thing about you.

When really bad things happened to Job (do you remember Job?) it revealed what he believed about God. When Job lost everything in his life he didn’t give up on trusting and loving God. Instead he decided to believe in God even more than he did before. And in the middle of all Job’s pain and sorrow he made this really powerful confession about God. What does Job say he believes about God? Listen:

Job 19:25-26. 25For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon earth. 26And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God,

First, Job calls God his “Redeemer.” His hero. His rescuer. He believes that God will never let him down and that God will eventually free him from his sadness and pain. Then, he says that God will one day stand upon the earth. Job believed that God will come to earth and make everything right. One day, God will bring Heaven to us. He will fix everything on earth, and everything will be awesome. How do we know? Because Job says in my flesh (my body) I will see God. When we are with God we will still have our bodies, but they will be fixed. No, we won’t turn into angels with harps floating on clouds. Just like when Jesus rose from the dead, we will have the same body just way, way better. We live forever with God in our bodies, and in his love and goodness.

Do you believe these same things about God that Job did? Do you believe that all of these things are made possible because of Jesus? Jesus is our Redeemer. Jesus will stand on the earth one day and rule as our good and gracious king. Jesus will give us a new, perfect, resurrected body like his own. We will see Jesus one day and become like him, without any more sin or sadness. Amen!

Because of Jesus we know we will one day see God and live with him forever.

With Jesus I can face anything sad in this life because I know it won’t last forever.
