TLIC FAMILY. DAY 82. MARCH 23: HOLY. WOE. CLEANSED. GO.

THINK TOGETHER

When you hear the word holy what do you think of?

READ TOGETHER

In the Bible there are several books that were written by prophets. Do you know what a prophet is? A prophet was someone who received God’s word and then told it to the people. Isaiah was a prophet that not only heard the word of Jesus but he also saw Jesus in Heaven. Listen to how Isaiah describes his experience in heaven:

Isaiah 6:1-8. 1In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

5And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” 6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” 8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9And he said, “Go.”

Did you notice how when Isaiah saw Jesus (the Lord seated on a throne) he was scared? Why was he scared? Yes, because he was a sinner in front of a holy God. What did Jesus do to take care of Isaiah’s sin? That’s right he cleansed Isaiah with the hot coal. Then Isaiah was ready to be sent by Jesus to declare his word to others.

What Isaiah experienced is what each of us must experience too. First we must see that Jesus is holy, holy, holy. He is perfect and pure. Then we must confess our sin – woe is me for I am lost. We must admit that we are not perfect like Jesus. Next we must let Jesus cleanse us of our sin. And finally we must be ready to go and serve Jesus – Here I am! Send me.

Because of Jesus you can be cleansed of your sin and made holy like him.

With Jesus you can go and live for him, knowing he is always with you.
